HW#1/3 Art Museums and Technology: The Cleveland Museum of Art

Gallery One is an interactive art gallery at The Cleveland Museum of Art. It is installed at the entrance of the museum, with 13,000 square foot space, where art and technology provide a platform for visitors to explore the art pieces at the museum. The space has multi-touched screens which allow visitors to explore art through their culture, chronology, media, and interpretation. Each interface also has some interactive games that invite visitors to engage with the art on view through questions and experiences.
Visitors may also use ArtLens, an iPad app from the museum for video or audio interpretation of the artwork. At the same time visitors have the choice to hear from curators, educators, and community members.
The “Tours” function also allows visitors to walk through the galleries as the director on the iPad talks them through the objects in the galleries.

The “Scan” function use image recognition to allow visitors to scan 2D art object for texts or videos, which further explains the art piece.
