HW#1/1 Self-Introduction

My name is Leying Zhang, a current TC student at the Art and Art Education program getting my initial teaching certification. I went to LaGuardia Performing Arts for high school, where I received the most traditional fine arts training. Then I went to Hunter to study fine arts. That was the first time I encountered contemporary art, audio, and video making as an art form. After learning audio and video making I saw my concentration, painting, as a such OLD and boring form. I also tried 3D printing, laser cutting, and digital embroidery in my sculpture class last semester. However, I was a little disappointed at the aesthetic look of 3D printed products and laser cutter products. Therefore, I did not explore these technologies further last semester. For this class, I want to explore technologies more and I am very interested in how technology can be taught to people (kids, teens, adults, and the elderlies). My experience level with new media and digital art materials is at an entry level. I would like to advance my skills in them.
