I always listen to music or podcasts on my way from home to school. For this project, I decided to walk to school without using my cellphone. The process was quite interesting. It was a bit uncomfortable at first because I felt like something was missing and I didn't know what to do, especially when I waited for the lights on the street. There were moments that I wanted to check my phone after I felt the vibration in my bag. However, after I walked for about 8 minutes, I started to notice my surroundings. I could hear a lot noise that I normally tried to ignore: people talking behind me, the noise of cars, dogs barking, and children crying.
In this art piece, I recorded the noise of my route to school. I also recorded some parts of the podcast that I would had listened to. I mixed these two sound tracks to show my everyday and personal connection and disconnection of my route to school.
